Earnings for Authors

When you publish prompts on BetterPrompt, you can earn money whenever other users run them.

This article explains how earnings work at a high level.

How you earn from runs

Each time a Pro user runs your published prompt:

  • BetterPrompt pays you 10% of the AI cost for that run.
  • These earnings accumulate as author earnings in your account.

The more your prompts are used, especially by external users—the more you can earn over time.

What affects your earnings

Your earnings depend on:

  • Number of runs: How often people use your prompt.
  • Model and settings: Different models and configurations can have different per‑run costs.
  • Prompt quality: Better prompts get favorited, shared, and re‑run more often.

You don't need to manage any billing with AI providers yourself, BetterPrompt abstracts that away and simply shares a portion of the usage back to you.

Where you can see your earnings

In your Author Dashboard, you'll typically see:

  • Total earnings over time.
  • Per‑prompt earnings, so you know which prompts perform best.
  • Metrics like run counts and trends over time.
  • A Withdraw button to request a payout to your bank account.

Use these insights to decide:

  • Which prompts to improve.
  • What kinds of prompts to create more of.
  • Which prompts deserve more promotion or iteration.

Strategies to increase earnings

To grow your author earnings:

  • Focus on clear, high‑value use cases that people need regularly.
  • Invest in good descriptions, inputs, and samples so users trust your prompts quickly.
  • Keep improving your prompts with new versions based on feedback and performance.
  • Share links to your best prompts with your audience or community.

Treat your prompts like products: the more useful and polished they are, the more they'll be used—and the more you'll earn.
